THERE ARE THIRTY (30) TRASH DUMPSTERS IN THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT THAT ARE IN THE PUBLIC VIEW. In our continuing efforts to beautify Downtown (and the rest of Huntington Beach) with public art, HBPAA has arranged to have these dumpsters designed and hand painted by thirty different local artists. To maintain the integrity and beauty of this public art, the dumpsters will be bonded with an anti-graffiti sealant.

This Public Art Project is made possible through the generosity of Republic Services of Huntington Beach (formerly Rainbow Disposal Services) and will benefit those in need by supporting Waste Not OC and  The OC Food Bank.

"Dumpsters on Parade" is a competition open to all artists who live, work or play in Huntington Beach. Their designs will be voted on by the public and the winning artists will paint their dumpsters at the Republic Services paint facility. All thirty decorated dumpsters will be paraded down Main Street on Saturday, October 7th to kick-off an all-day Main Street Art Show featuring "Dumpsters on Display." We are inviting each artist to feature other art pieces at this event for purchase by our many local art lovers. On Sunday, October 8th, the dumpsters will be displayed on the Municipal Pier and by Monday morning the thirty dumpsters will be in service at their designated locations throughout Downtown.

As part of this event, by supporting Waste Not OC and The OC Food Bank and relying on the generosity of our Huntington Beach residents and businesses, we will be having a Canned Food Drive to fill all thirty dumpsters with canned goods to benefit those in need. We look forward to a wonderful weekend celebrating our local artists and beautifying Downtown with public art. We also have the added benefit and honor of helping Waste Not OC and The OC Food Bank fulfill their vision to end hunger in Orange County.
